The FLAT’s annual spring workshop series was a huge hit this year. Over 50 students and community members attended and learned how to:

  1. Convince friendly bacteria to feast on your food (fermentation)
  2. Take scraps of wood and turn them into beautiful, functional tools (wood working)
  3. Bind together two twigs so that you can grow badass apple varieties (grafting)
  4. Turn straw into a useful addition to any omelet (mushroom growing)

Aside from all of these fantastic skills, I also learned that we have an incredible amount of talent in this community. The level of skill, expertise, and knowledge each of our instructors brought was humbling. I had so much fun makings things with people– I hope you did, too. IMG_9938
