The FLAT’s annual spring workshop series was a huge hit this year. Over 50 students and community members attended and learned how to:
- Convince friendly bacteria to feast on your food (fermentation)
- Take scraps of wood and turn them into beautiful, functional tools (wood working)
- Bind together two twigs so that you can grow badass apple varieties (grafting)
- Turn straw into a useful addition to any omelet (mushroom growing)
Aside from all of these fantastic skills, I also learned that we have an incredible amount of talent in this community. The level of skill, expertise, and knowledge each of our instructors brought was humbling. I had so much fun makings things with people– I hope you did, too.
